Korea's recall does not cover all swordfish. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) announcement dated October 2, 2026 identifies a processed seafood product named Hwangsaechi (swordfish) made by Hanbada Food Co., Ltd., with a January 5, 2026 production date. Compare all three details with your package; do not infer that another fish or date is covered.

Checked: October 3, 2026 (KST). The cover is a conceptual image, not a photograph of the recalled package; the two following diagrams are code-drawn. If a portion was sold without the original label, ask its retailer to check the manufacturer's package information.

The original Korean-language release PDF reports cadmium at 0.3 mg/kg against a maximum of 0.2 mg/kg for this product. The testing institution was the Seoul Metropolitan Government Research Institute of Public Health and Environment. This is a result for the specific recalled product, not a measured cadmium level for all swordfish. The use-by period is not a substitute for matching the production date.

If your item matches

MFDS ordered sales stopped and the product recalled. It advises buyers not to eat the affected item and to return it to the place of purchase. Retain the packaging and order record when contacting the retailer. If you received an unpackaged portion, ask the retailer to establish the maker and production date from the original container; do not guess from its appearance or the fact that it is swordfish.

MFDS also lists 1399 and the Nae Son An food-safety app for reporting food-related illegal conduct. Those are reporting channels, not a replacement for requesting a return from the seller. The announcement does not determine each retailer's live stock or refund processing, so confirm those details with the seller.
