Planning several Korean passport applications for the same delivery address? Check the address, nominated recipient and count—not simply whether everyone is family. Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on October 1 that it would expand bundled passport postal delivery to 258 passport-application agencies nationwide from October 6, 2026. As of October 2, the nationwide expansion is announced for a future date, not verified as open at every counter.

Checked: October 2, 2026 (KST). The cover shows AI-generated blank booklet props, not official identity documents or an actual parcel. The two following graphics are code-drawn decision aids, not screenshots of a passport application.

The three checks before selecting delivery

Check What the announcement establishes What to ask at the counter
Address Multiple passports go to one identical address Do the delivery addresses on all applications match?
Recipient One nominated recipient receives the bundle How is that person designated and identity verified?
Quantity A bundle contains up to five passports How many actual booklets are being delivered?

The release describes booklets sharing a destination. It does not establish a family-only rule or an automatic right to combine applications just because surnames match. Nor does the release settle all special cases for children or proxies; check those directly with the handling agency.

Compare delivery costs without mixing them with issuance fees

The original press-release PDF sets bundled postage at KRW 7,500. Its worked comparison uses separate postal delivery at KRW 5,500 per passport: for five booklets, KRW 27,500 versus the bundle, a maximum KRW 20,000 saving in that example. This is not a promised saving for every applicant—one booklet or different addresses do not meet that comparison. Passport issuance fees are a separate matter.

The service had been piloted since July 1 at eight agencies in Daejeon and Sejong. The ministry's operating guide says bundled delivery is chosen during an in-person passport application, paid by card, and is not available for online reissue applications or passports issued within 48 hours. Its page still describes the pilot locations; use the newer October 1 release for the planned October 6 nationwide expansion. Ask your agency about its actual option and identification requirements. The operating guide estimates 3–4 working days, but says some regions may take 10 days or longer; it is not a guaranteed arrival date.

Practical counter checklist

  1. Confirm your chosen agency really offers the bundled option on the application date.
  2. Verify all addresses, the named recipient and the number of booklets.
  3. Read the KRW 7,500 delivery charge separately from issuance fees and other shipping options.
  4. Ask the agency about identity checks, minor/proxy cases and delivery time rather than assuming the press release settles them.
