Rechecked October 14, 2026. Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) announced on October 12 that it was stopping sales and recalling specified packs of 데빌초코케이크 (Devil Chocolate Cake). Its original notice says the product used egg as an ingredient without declaring the egg allergen. The two-page official attachment identifies the product and tells buyers to stop eating it and return it to the place of purchase. This is not a recall of all chocolate cake.
Match the product and the printed consumption-by date
| Check on the pack | What the MFDS attachment says |
|---|---|
| Korean product name and food category | 데빌초코케이크 (Devil Chocolate Cake); processed chocolate product |
| Manufacturer | (주)초코텍, Icheon, Gyeonggi Province |
| Distributor / marketing company | 주식회사 초코텍티시, Icheon, Gyeonggi Province |
| Pack size | 140 g |
| Affected consumption-by dates | 2026-10-12, 2026-10-13, 2026-10-17 |
| Allergen ingredient omitted from declaration | Egg |
The three dates are the product's 소비기한 (consumption-by dates) printed on the affected packs. They are not the deadline to request a return or the date the recall ended. The attachment supplies no separate lot-code or barcode filter; do not invent one. Nor should the named product and dates be broadened to other chocolates or different dates. The production figure in the announcement is not a recovered-quantity or completion figure.

What to do with a matching pack
The regulator asks purchasers of the affected product to stop consuming it and return it to the place of purchase (attachment p. 1). That instruction applies to purchasers of the listed packs; it is not restricted to people who already know they have an egg allergy. Confirm store-specific return arrangements with the seller. If the original pack or printed date is missing or unclear, use your purchase record and ask the retailer instead of treating a similar-looking dessert as definitively covered.

An omitted declaration is not a report of illness. The documented issue is egg used as an ingredient without the required allergen declaration. The release does not establish a count of allergic reactions, whether an individual has an allergy, or a complete list of other ingredients. If you suspect an allergic reaction or serious symptoms, seek appropriate medical care. This article cannot diagnose you.
What the current notice does—and does not—establish
On October 14 the official MFDS release remained accessible with its October 12 recall statement and the attached product table. The release alone does not provide a live store-by-store recovery rate or an official date when the recall was completed. Check the latest official and retailer guidance before acting. The images here are generic conceptual scenes, not photos of the actual product.
