The name “Culture Month” may sound like one show with one ticket. In Yeosu it refers to four days, October 16–19, 2026, with performances and other activities across several parts of the city. For visitors, the important distinction is between a Culture Month event's viewing charge and access to the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo main venue, where the opening and closing stages are located. They are not interchangeable prices.
This guide compares the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's October 17 release, the organizer's October 15 official leaflet and its visitor FAQ. All describe announced schedules, not a report that any show actually took place.
First decide what kind of visit you want
The opening and closing ceremonies are assigned to the open-air stage at the main Island Expo site. The ministry's attached plan, PDF page 3, places the October 17 ceremony and thematic performance there at 18:00. It also lists Seo Do Band, Solar and Zion.T as planned celebratory performers, followed by fireworks. On October 19 the same main site is scheduled to host a traditional-music gathering and closing performance. An announcement of artists is not a guarantee of a completed or unchanged lineup.
You can instead organize a visit around the Jongpo Marine Park area for street performances, graffiti and the illuminated seaside route; Ungcheon Waterfront Park for community cultural performances, exhibitions and activity zones; or Jangdo Island for seaside reading and classical music. The leaflet generally lists Ungcheon and Jangdo's featured activities for October 16–18, not all four days. It singles out the Marine Park's light-themed street as running until November 4, which does not extend the rest of the four-day festival. The Jangdo access bridge's operating hours can vary with the tide.
The ministry says the YK Dance Festa begins at 15:00 on October 18; the leaflet gives a longer Marine Park stage block that day. Check the particular performance rather than assuming all activities start at 15:00.

The admission question has two answers
The ministry PDF does not provide a price list for every act. The festival organizer's FAQ says Culture Month performances and exhibitions have no separate viewing charge. Its next answer makes a crucial distinction about entry to the Island Expo grounds:
| Day | Organizer's answer about entering the Island Expo grounds |
|---|---|
| October 17, opening day | Free entry for all visitors that day. |
| October 19, closing day | Paid entry, unless a free-admission category under the Expo's own rules applies; ask the Expo organizing committee at 1899-2695. |
Do not turn “free festival performances and exhibitions” into “everything at the Expo is free on every date.” Nor does the leaflet's lack of prices establish that every hands-on activity, item for sale or separate performance is free. If the October 19 closing show is your reason for travelling, check your Expo entry eligibility and the latest access notice before setting off. The organizer's FAQ provides the boundary; individual exceptions are for the Expo to determine.
An unusual inconsistency in the opening timetable
The ministry plan states 18:00 for the October 17 ceremony and thematic performance. The event FAQ describes a broader 17:00–20:30 ceremony period. The leaflet itself prints 18:00–21:00 on its front and 17:00–20:00 in its inner program table. The sources do not explain whether these windows include entry, pre-show entertainment or different segments of the ceremony. We therefore do not give a supposedly confirmed finish time. Consult the official event site or the venue's current notice for the actual session and travel timing.

Before leaving: match the program to its specific date and venue, check the access conditions for the Island Expo if heading to the main stage, and recheck tide-dependent Jangdo access or any same-day schedule changes. This article interprets published information as of October 17, 2026; it is not firsthand attendance advice or an assurance of capacity, accessibility, weather or artist appearances.
