Official release rechecked October 17, 2026. The photos show generic home planning scenes, not an applicant, an actual service institution or a Military Manpower Administration (MMA) form. The MMA's 2027 social-service personnel self-selection announcement concerns applications in November and December 2026 for call-up in 2027. It does not mean that the first application window opens in November 2027. The critical question is whether your current service/deferment status makes you eligible for the first round.
First round: a restricted group, November 10–16
According to the original Korean PDF, the first round is for people under student enlistment deferment or overseas enlistment deferment. Applications run from 10:00 Tuesday, November 10 to 18:00 Monday, November 16, 2026, with results scheduled for 14:00 Wednesday, November 18 (Korea local time). Being generally due for social-service call-up is not, on its own, the announced eligibility for this first round. Check your own status through MMA's official channels; this article does not access individual military-service records or decide your eligibility.

Second round: all people awaiting social-service call-up
The second round is described as open to all people awaiting social-service call-up. It runs from 10:00 Tuesday, December 1 to 18:00 Monday, December 7, 2026; results are scheduled for 14:00 Wednesday, December 9 (Korea local time). “All” qualifies that specific waiting group, not every person with a military obligation or everyone who wishes to apply. Do not merge the two eligibility rules and tell readers they can all apply in November.
Both application windows end at 18:00, while the results dates are later and separate. Successfully submitting a preference is not the same as being selected for a particular date and institution. The announcement does not establish an individual applicant's status, the live vacancies at an institution or that a given authentication method will work on your device. Before submitting, revisit the MMA's official site and notices and use the current application interface.
You may state up to two preferences
The MMA says applicants can use its website or mobile app, complete identity authentication and choose a preferred call-up date and service institution up to a second preference. The release names MMA's simplified authentication, a joint certificate and Nara Sarang email authentication among its methods, and says real-time application status is provided to help select an institution. A preference is not a promise that one of the two choices will be allocated. This article has no real-time vacancy data and does not reproduce an actual submission screen.

Selection is not simply first come, first served
The MMA says its selection considers academic major, number of previous unsuccessful selections, age and occupational preference type, among other factors. For special schools and social-welfare facilities, candidates with related majors receive priority, according to the release. The announcement does not say that a related major guarantees selection or that faster submission guarantees a spot. It refers readers to MMA notices for detailed selection criteria. Neither institutional capacity nor an individual's ranking can be calculated from the brief press release alone.
Before applying: verify your present deferment/call-up status → identify the correct round and deadline → read the current MMA notice and prepare authentication → review dates and up to two institutional choices → confirm submission in the official interface → check the result on the designated date. This is our editorial checklist, not an official eligibility determination or selection guarantee.
