One part of the Gwacheon National Science Museum's October 9 Hangul Day programme needs advance booking: the Moonlight Writing Contest: A Story Under the Stars (달빛 백일장: 별 수 없는 이야기). A release by the science ministry and museum places it in the planetarium, where visitors write and read aloud stories based on science prompts. The wider event, A Hangul Day Worth Seeing the Stars (별 볼 일 있는 한글날), also has distinct activities elsewhere.
Checked: October 3, 2026 (KST). The cover is a conceptual home writing desk, not a photo of the science museum or event. The two following diagrams are code-drawn. Do not confuse this October 9 programme with the museum's separate October 10 special stargazing event.

The body of the Korean release says "age seven and over (born 2019)," while its attachment also uses the term "full age seven and over" next to the 2019 birth-year label. Because those formulations are not perfectly aligned, use the explicit birth-year criterion and check the ticket screen for the participant's eligibility before paying. The 200-person figure is announced programme capacity, not a live number of seats still available. The operator's booking page gives 3:30–5:10 p.m. and says writing paper, pens and clipboards are provided. Its listed opening time for registration is 10:00 a.m., whereas the programme listing shows 10:30 a.m.; check the live booking state rather than treating either start time as a current seat count.

Contest participation is not general admission
KRW 5,000 is the per-person writing contest fee. The museum's contest-booking notice says museum admission must be bought separately, but also says access via the outdoor exhibition entrance can be free. Do not assume every contest participant must pay for an indoor exhibition ticket—or that the contest fee buys indoor exhibition admission. The official individual-ticket listing shows general permanent-exhibition admission of KRW 4,000 for adults aged 20–64, KRW 2,000 for ages 7–19, and free entry under age 7. Decide whether you are also visiting the indoor exhibition and confirm the route and total on the actual booking screen. Buying ordinary museum admission alone does not reserve a contest seat.
Other activities mentioned include a reading space and postcards in the central hall, Braille-name keyrings and Hangul drawing, and a letter-finding mission in the Korean Science and Civilization Hall. These have their own locations and participation arrangements. Do not attach the contest's 5,000-won price to every activity.

For a shorter Korean participant checklist, see the Life Mokcha Naver edition. The official booking screen, not this article, decides availability at the time of purchase.
