The 2026 International Seed Expo (KOREA SEED EXPO 2026) is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21 through Friday, October 23, from 10:00 to 17:00 each day, according to both the Korean ministry PDF, p. 4 and the operator's live schedule. Its stated venue is the Seed Industry Promotion Center at the private breeding research complex in Gimje, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province. The operator's transport page gives the address as 232 Ssiat-gil, Baeksan-myeon, Gimje (김제시 백산면 씨앗길 232). These are starting facts for a trip—not a substitute for up-to-date entry arrangements.

What kind of expo is this?

It is the tenth edition of a specialized seed-industry exhibition, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Jeonbuk Province and Gimje City, with the Korea Agriculture Technology Promotion Agency as organizer. The ministry expects 113 participating businesses and organizations. It says an outdoor test field and greenhouses will grow and display 461 varieties across 45 crops, alongside indoor company/institution booths and a tenth-anniversary thematic hall. These figures describe the planned displays and participants, not visitor numbers or available tickets.

Public activities versus trade meetings

The October 18 announcement names sweet-potato harvesting, a seed-industry quiz, a cooking class with Venerable Seonjae and therapeutic-agriculture activities for general visitors. It also lists an autonomous agricultural-equipment demonstration. Researchers and businesses have seminars, a digital-phenotyping workshop and B2B export consultations. Listing an activity does not guarantee entry, an English-language session or space in a class. The release lacks individual activity conditions, but the event operator's side-events page, checked October 18, specifies several:

  • Sweet-potato harvest, outdoor plot 3: Wednesday October 21, 13:30–16:00; Thursday and Friday October 22–23, 10:30–12:00 and 14:00–16:00 each day. The operator says on-site activity registration, KRW 5,000 participation fee, with a KRW 5,000 food-truck voucher; infants/preschoolers and elementary, middle and high-school students are exempt from this activity fee. It warns that sessions can end early. On-site registration does not guarantee an available place; the voucher is not a cash refund or a general-admission benefit.
  • Cooking class with Venerable Seonjae: Wednesday October 21, 13:00–14:00, marked advance application closed. The operator's September 17 notice calls this class free, but its team-of-four lottery for ten teams required at least two adults and closed September 30 at noon. Its old application link should not be treated as an open booking page. None of these terms establish free entry to the expo.

The ministry says it aims for export contracts exceeding KRW 8.3 billion at this year's expo. That is a target, not contracts already signed in 2026, and it does not imply that ordinary attendees have access to the buyer consultations. The historical aggregate cited for previous editions is a separate measure.

Before you travel to Gimje

The operator's transport tab supplies the address and mentions buses 15 and 16 from Iksan Station/Iksan bus terminal to the Seed Industry Promotion Center; it does not establish a live bus timetable or event parking. Neither the ministry release nor the operator pages reviewed established general-admission price, public ticket or preregistration rules, parking availability/fees, or activity capacity. A separate agricultural-group visit recruitment is marked completed and does not determine individual visitor entry. A notice suspending online membership and participation-application functions concerns exhibiting businesses and farmer-group staff, not a universal visitor prohibition. Do not mistake the paid harvest activity for a ticket price, or the free but closed cooking class for free expo admission. Check the operator's latest announcements and ask at 063-219-8887 about general entry, parking and participation before setting off; hours and programme conditions may change.
