At Gimhae International Airport (PUS), the first railway question is not simply “Where is the station?” It is whether your onward trip needs Busan Metro Line 2 or Line 3. Korea Airports Corporation (KAC) identifies Sasang as the transfer for Line 2 and Daejeo as the transfer for Line 3. The Busan–Gimhae Light Rail Airport Station is public ground transport, not an airside shuttle that carries passengers between gates.

Checked October 23, 2026 (KST). KAC owns the airport transport guidance; the railway operator owns station schedules and fares. Recheck the actual service and terminal access on your day of travel.

First: leave the terminal through the public area

Check whether your flight uses the domestic or international terminal. Select the matching terminal transport layout on KAC's site. On arrival, complete any applicable immigration and baggage collection before following public-area signs toward the railway. The operator lists Airport Station as a separate station at 165 Gonghangjinip-ro, Gangseo-gu, Busan. We have not verified a universal door number, walk time or step-free itinerary for both terminals; large luggage, wet weather and mobility needs warrant checking signs and staff instructions in person. Remaining airside in transit does not imply access to the public station without the applicable entry procedures.

Second: match the connection to your Metro line

  • Busan Metro Line 2: At Airport Station, check for the train signed toward Sasang (West Bus Terminal). Transfer at Sasang, and check your Metro destination's direction separately.
  • Busan Metro Line 3: Check for the opposite light-rail direction, Gaya University, and transfer at Daejeo. Again check the onward Metro platform by destination.

Sasang and Daejeo are not interchangeable. Look up the complete origin–destination journey rather than assuming one train or one fare covers your whole itinerary.

A dated first-person traveller's post in May 2026 describes a trip via Oncheonjang, Seomyeon and Sasang to Airport Station, following the railway signs. It is evidence of that traveller's experience, not an official timetable, an accessibility guarantee or confirmation that today's sign placement and total fare remain unchanged.

Third: separate the rail fare from a transfer surcharge

The operator's fare table lists adult light-rail card fares of ₩1,600 for one section and ₩1,800 for two sections; single-journey tickets are ₩1,700 and ₩1,900, respectively. It does not establish the total cost of every journey to an onward Busan destination. Check the specific station pair and payment medium in the operator's route/fare search.

The same source says an additional intercity transfer charge for travel among Busan, Gimhae and Yangsan was abolished on September 19, 2025. Its transfer rules still specify boarding within 30 minutes after exiting the previous vehicle and no more than two transfers. Removing an extra charge does not remove the underlying basic fare. Do not describe all transfers as free rides or assume a separately issued ticket will produce the same settlement.

Fourth: check the last train in the direction you need

When we read the Airport Station timetable on October 23, it displayed 05:33 first / 00:09 next-day last toward Sasang and 05:06 first / 23:47 last toward Gaya University. The displayed weekday, Saturday and holiday columns should be checked again on the day of travel. These are published timetable entries, not a live operating-state assertion or proof of all-night service.

  1. Arriving by air? Add the time for actual landing, entry formalities, baggage claim and the walk to the public station. A scheduled landing time is not railway-gate entry time.
  2. Flying out? Allow for getting from the station to the correct terminal and your airline's separate check-in deadline.
  3. Travelling late? Check the operator's latest service notices and direction-specific timetable. Confirm availability and price directly before relying on another transport mode or a hotel. This guide does not promise a late-night bus or taxi fare.

Four checks before leaving

  • Select the domestic or international terminal's public-area transport layout.
  • Decide whether your onward Metro transfer is Sasang (Line 2) or Daejeo (Line 3).
  • Check the train direction, today's schedule and station-pair fare with the light-rail operator.
  • Allow for baggage and individual mobility needs instead of using a universal walk-time estimate.
