From October 1, 2026, Korea’s Construction Workers Mutual Aid Association has been accepting applications for its new-family birth benefit. Having a baby in 2026 alone does not establish eligibility: the worker’s retirement mutual-aid accrual and covered status at the child’s birth must also be checked.
How much is cash, and how much is baby goods?

- First child: KRW 300,000 cash.
- Second child: KRW 300,000 cash plus a baby-goods package valued at KRW 100,000.
- Third or later child: KRW 300,000 cash plus a baby-goods package valued at KRW 200,000.
The published totals of KRW 400,000 and KRW 500,000 therefore include the value of goods; they are not all-cash payments. Delivery of the package is a separate process for second and later children. An early-November timetable in the provider’s FAQ is a plan, not a promised delivery date for a particular household.
Check all three eligibility tests

- Birth: The child was born in 2026.
- Accrual: At application, the worker has at least 252 accumulated days of retirement mutual-aid accrual and at least 100 days in the last 12 months or the preceding calendar year. For women workers, 100 days in the last 24 months can satisfy the recent-accrual condition in consideration of pregnancy.
- Covered status: The parent was a registered covered construction worker at the date of birth. The official FAQ offers a work-history example that includes the birth month.
A worker who has already received or is currently claiming the retirement mutual-aid payout is excluded. The benefit cannot be paid twice for the same child; even if both parents qualify, only one can apply for that child. A family that received support for its first child may check eligibility for a different newborn child.
Where and how to apply
For mobile or PC applications through Geonseol-eum, prepare a family-relationship certificate issued in the applicant’s own name, with the latter digits of resident registration numbers hidden, within three months of application. In-person applications require an application form, that certificate and the child’s personal-data consent form. Mail/fax applications additionally require a copy of the applicant’s ID. Submit sensitive documents only through the provider’s verified official channels.
The press release and guide say applications open October 1 and are accepted year-round, while the programme’s online listing shows December 31 as an end date. Do not assume post-year-end availability without checking the actual application page or the association at 1666-1122. A concise Korean Naver overview is also available.
