Checked October 6, 2026. The Korean Consumer Agency (KCA) release compares seven carbon-plated running-shoe models, one from each of seven brands, for performance, durability, safety and labeling. It does not evaluate every shoe made by these brands or every runner. This decision guide separates the measures in the original test report PDF rather than inventing one overall winner.
Pick the measure that answers your question
- Concerned about landing impact? Nike Zoom Fly 6 and Puma Deviate Nitro 4 received the relatively higher heel-impact absorption rating within this seven-model test. All seven received the highest propulsion rating, so propulsion alone does not separate them in this sample.
- Concerned about grip on the tested surface? Skechers Aero Spark and ASICS Magic Speed 5 received the relatively higher maximum-traction rating. KCA measured the force from pulling a fixed object on asphalt; this is not a guarantee against slipping on wet pavement or every surface.
- Concerned about pressure or steadiness? Hoka Skyward X was rated relatively favorably for distributing plantar pressure within the seven tested models, while Nike Zoom Fly 6 was rated relatively favorably for limiting side-to-side center-of-pressure movement. These are distinct metrics, not a universal overall rank.
New Balance SC Trainer V3, Skechers Aero Spark, ASICS Magic Speed 5, Puma Deviate Nitro 4 and Hoka Skyward X received the relatively higher knee-load fatigue rating in the biomechanical test. This refers to test-defined forces at the knee, not a clinical finding that these shoes prevent an individual's injuries.
How far can you apply the scores to your own feet?
The biomechanical panel consisted of 30 men in their twenties with 270 mm feet. Plantar-pressure and center-of-pressure measures were taken on a treadmill at 6.5 km/h. Do not transplant their scores unchanged to a different foot size, age, body mass, pace or running surface. The same 30-person functional-test panel also rated wear satisfaction; in that evaluation, Puma Deviate Nitro 4 scored the highest in this sample at 4.6 out of 5. That cannot guarantee a personal fit.
KCA advises trying on both shoes, checking width, instep and size, and allowing roughly 0.5–1 cm of toe space for longer runs. Match your intended use and experience to the feel on your own feet. A test rating cannot replace individual medical advice or establish that a shoe is suitable for an existing condition.
Keep price, product labeling and chemical safety distinct
- Price: Official website list prices in June 2026 for these seven products ranged from KRW 189,000 to KRW 279,000. Skechers Aero Spark was the least expensive and Hoka Skyward X the most expensive in that dated list. These are not verified checkout prices, discounts or today's stock. Compare the exact model and size at checkout.
- Chemical test: All seven met the applicable safety requirements for the five substances or measures tested, including pH, formaldehyde and an organotin compound. Do not turn that bounded test into a claim that all hazards have been ruled out.
- Labeling: Separately from chemical safety, KCA found material-composition or lining-label deficiencies on Adidas Adistar BYD, Puma Deviate Nitro 4 and Hoka Skyward X. The release distinguishes Adidas's reported correction as of August 13 from other companies' plans to improve. A company plan is not proof that every unit for sale already carries the corrected label; inspect the item you intend to buy.
At the store: Match the exact model name → try on and move in both shoes → check the relevant test measure and sample conditions → inspect the actual checkout price and product label.
