Checked October 4, 2026: The Bongeunsa 공덕키링 (Gongdeok, or “merit,” keyring) was reported to make a little keyboard-cap click and a wooden moktak percussion sound when pressed. On-the-ground reporting described rapid sellouts in September. We could not verify today's restock or on-site availability. The temple's website did not yield an official product-detail photograph or a live stock listing.
What does the keyring look and sound like?
Daily Pop's September 29 visit report describes the press-to-sound keyring and mentions zodiac-themed designs plus a playful idea that each press “adds a merit.” This does not establish which motifs are on sale today or whether every version has identical mechanics.

Image note: An AI-made approximation of the visible brown-on-white and yellow-on-gold versions, including the eyes, front slit and keyring. Actual color, pattern, mechanism, proportions and size may differ. We did not republish the social-media photograph reproduced by Yonhap.
Was the price ₩10,000, and is it still sold out?
Daily Pop reported ₩10,000 per keyring in its September 29 article. That is a reported price at that time, not a fresh price quote for October 4. Its account says a September 12 supply sold in about 48 minutes and sales resumed September 23.
An October 1 Yonhap report says Bongeunsa received around 6,000 keyrings on September 23, which sold out that day. During its September 29 reporting, a shop notice said “sold out” and “restock date undecided.” Those are historical observations, not proof of a sellout today. Price, purchase limits and replenishment can change.

What should you check before traveling to Bongeunsa?
- The temple's official directions page lists 531 Bongeunsa-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul and approximately 100 metres from Bongeunsa Station, Line 9, Exit 1.
- If the keyring is your reason to go, check that day's shop stock, price, queue and any purchase limit first. We did not find a live product-stock page. Bongeunsa's official page lists its main number as 02-3218-4800, but we have not verified that the main office can check shop inventory in real time.
- Do not mistake another zodiac keyring or prayer bracelet for the sound-making Gongdeok keyring. Yonhap described visitors browsing other items when the Gongdeok version was sold out.
Bottom line: A September report quoted ₩10,000 and a later visit found a sold-out notice; today's inventory remains unconfirmed.
